A bride before meeting her bridegroom has to get ready to meet her husband on the day of marriage. She needs to beautify herself externally. Some spend months and weeks in beautifying themselves, ultimately to be called spotless and beautiful by the bridegroom.
Esther is one such beautiful lady who started to ready herself to meet the King, who later became her husband as she was chosen amongst all beautiful woman. She was pleasing in the sight of her Lord, the king. But to be selected she had to undergo the beautification process.
When we read Esther 2: 3, 4, 12, 13, we see that a specific time period and ornaments of their own desire were given to them to make themselves ready to present before the king.)
Does a young woman forget her jewelry, a bride her wedding ornaments?
Yet my people have forgotten me, days without number.
God says – Can a maid forget her ornaments or a bride her attire? Yet my people have forgotten me days without number. Now since we forgot our love, we also forgot the attires.
Some of us did not forget our love but we did not know how to prepare ourselves, so we delayed and disrespected the king like Vashti. Esther became the chosen one as she followed the advice of Hege, the keeper . If we want to be the chosen one we need to take the advice of the Holy Spirit who is our Hege, He will teach us and He will select and give us the right ornament and makeup which will please the Lord. It is best to submit in His hands rather than us getting worried.
What are the ways in which we need to prepare ourselves? What is our attire?
The first thing a woman needs to do is to wash herself with soap
Purge me with Hyssop, and I shall be clean: wash me and I shall be whiter than snow.
We, the bride who are selected must wash ourselves with the blood of Jesus Christ which will set us free. The salvation through Jesus is the first step to be qualified.
A bride cannot remain as such after washing herself, she needs to put on makeup. The experience of being saved alone is not enough to become a bride of Christ.
Therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness and longsuffering.
Applying oil has become forbidden by the present generation as they feel it spoils their beauty, which results in health issues. But the word of Lord asks us to apply the oil which is called joy (Isaiah 61:3). This is the major reason why many are living in sorrow. Joy of the Lord is our strength. We need to rejoice in the Lord always.
The next thing a woman prefers is applying lipstick as she feels it adds beauty to her lips. We need to have knowledge on our lips, without which there is always problem. None will look up to us if we open our lips without knowledge and it will end up in disaster and shame (Proverbs 20:15, lip of knowledge is a precious jewel).
Now the bride before adorning herself needs to dress herself. She needs to choose the best possible dress to wear on her marriage. (Isaiah 61:3). The garment of praise is the most necessary attire amongst all. We need to praise God at all times. A woman of praise can face any battle as the devil can never touch or enter due to the glory surrounding her. A house of praise is a house full of God’s glory and power. The garment of praise makes the bride glow.
Now the bride needs to adorn herself with ornaments. The necklace embedded with jewels adds extra beauty to a bride.
Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.
We need to wear mercy and truth about our necks. Living in truth and being merciful always pleases God and it adds beauty to the persons we are and it attracts people. They are the ones which capture the eyes of people easily.
The most important jewel which represents the bond between a bride and her husband is the ring.
Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye. 3 Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.
The ring always gives us pride by making us the chosen one. Keeping God’s commands in our life in this present generation is not easy, which makes us the only people wearing the ring engaged to God. Ring is a reminder of our love and bond. God’s command and His Word should always be in our heart forever. If the ring is lost we are lost and considered as a bride who has divorced her husband. His word should always abide in us. He is the word.
If I abide in you and my words abide in you what you desire it will be done unto you.
The next ornament needed is the earring which gives extra beauty to the face.
As an earring of gold and an ornament of fine gold , so is a wise reprove upon an obedient ear
Obedience always adds the beauty. It shows our quality to submit ourselves totally into His hands. He should be the deciding factor. It is not only being obedient to God, an obedient woman is loved by all. In this present day, people like to do things in their own way rather than obeying. Being obedient to the Word and paying attention to it is not easy in this perverse and false generation.
Bracelet adds beauty to the hands of the bride.
These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. 7 Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. 8 Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads.
We should be keeping His commands and instructions always in our hand.
Decorative jewels adorned on top it gives additional shine which makes the bride more beautiful.
And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity
Love makes you the perfect bride. Love in fact brings the bond between the bride and the groom. Love brings them together. Love brings everyone together for that occasion. Love is the base which binds everyone. Love not only our loved ones but even those who hate us and persecute us. Love your enemies. This is the main beauty; without it there is no extra glow and we look dull. Unconditional love like our Lord is needed.
1 Corinthians 13:13
And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.
1 Timothy 2:9,10
I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.
Let us adorn ourselves with good works and professing Godliness Adorning is always important because that only makes you look like a bride. It is the identity.
How can a bride be decorated without a crown? Some of us forget the crown, saying what I have done is enough. Many of us may be right in our spiritual life but if we fail to obey our earthly parents that becomes a sin and we naturally don’t mind it as it has become a fashion of dishonouring the parents and saying I am holy, I follow God’s commands and I love everyone.
Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching. They are a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.
2 Timothy 4:8
Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing.
We can receive this crown of righteousness from our bride as an everlasting gift only if we adorn these crowns also in earth.
How can a bride miss the perfume when even an ordinary woman loves to apply it
2 Corinthians 2:14.15
But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere. 15 For we are to God the pleasing aroma of Christ among those who are being saved and those who are perishing.
We are the fragrance of Christ, we are the aroma of life leading to life. Our life must be a testimony, which attracts everyone by our sweet fragrance. People should prefer staying with us loving the smell, so that we can open up their eyes towards the truth. A life without a testimony is never a Christian life. Our fragrance should spread. We must chose the right perfume to attract people. Some perfumes make people dizzy; some irritates; some even stinks. We must chose the perfume of Christ and be as He was.
The bride before leaving for the great day cannot go bare footed so she must wear slippers which are bridal wear glossy and beautiful. If she doesn’t wear it her feet becomes dirty and it spoils the entire attire.
Ephesians 6:14, 15
14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.
Having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. This should never be forgotten, it must go wherever we go. If we forget and leave it or feel shy to carry, He will dishonour us. He will dishonour us if we feel shy to testify.
The bride is almost done but the final touch up is to look at herself and check in the mirror for her satisfaction. It is needed to check her flaws.
Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at his face in a mirror
We cannot correct ourselves. We need the word of God to correct us and if we don’t it will end up in disaster. All the above said becomes of waste. We will be ashamed in front of everyone. Even the slightest mistake will be revealed by a mirror. We need to take heed or else we will lose the bride.
Now the bridegroom our Lord should say “You are altogether beautiful, my darling; there is no flaw in you.”- Song of Solomon 4:7.
He should say we are perfect. We should not be like Vashti, losing our chance when the time was given to beautify herself and present before others to even lead them in the right way. Even if we are late for preparing our groom will go away, there is no use of beautifying ourselves or standing beautiful after He is gone. After He is gone who is there to see you, you will be taken as wife by someone like the devil or you will become a slave losing your love. We cannot decorate ourselves with the desires of the King; we need the help of the Holy spirit, but remember that He will help us only if we ask Him.
We must own our King and love Him as our soul mate; that is when we will have that desire to get ready for Him. If we just see Him as a giving source or God who supplies just our needs or just as master to help us and reward us, we will never be excited to see Him. Unless we dream about our soul mate, we cannot get ready. Start preparing yourself to see your love. Do not cheat your love and live in fornication which can never last. Prepare to meet your everlasting love.
Get ready, Bride!!!!!
Time will delay no longer; He is coming to pick His Beloved.
