The fountain of gardens; A well of living waters and streams from Lebanon. (Song of Solomon 4:15)
The garden is not dependent on a mere reservoir; it has a fountain sufficient to water many gardens.
Garden = plural = Living waters!
Jeremiah 17:8 – “For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.”
John 4 : 13,14 – “Jesus answered and said unto her, whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again: But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.”
John 7 : 38 – “He that believeth on me, as the scripture hath said, out of his belly shall flow rivers of living water.
The above verses show that the living waters flows up as a spring in a vertical direction and also flowing horizontally as a river engraving the cross in our hearts and the blessings that come with drinking this water.
The church is a garden enclosed
(Isaiah 5:1) “Now will I sing to my wellbeloved a song of my beloved touching his vineyard. My wellbeloved hath a vineyard in a very fruitful hill.”
The Church is a spring
(Isaiah 27:3) “I the Lord do keep it; I will water it every moment: lest any hurt it, I will keep it night and day.
(Isaiah 53:11) “And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.”
The church is sealed
(Ephesians 4:30) “And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption.”
(II Timothy 2:19) “Nevertheless the foundation of God standeth sure, having this seal, The Lord Knoweth them that are his. And, Let every one that nameth the name of Christ depart from iniquity.”
The Church is an Orchard
(Song of Solomon 4:13) “Thy plants are an orchard of pomegranates, with pleasant fruits; camphire, with spikenard.”
The Garden of God not only has flowers which symbolize glory, but also fruit trees which speaks of fruitful life.
Garden – Kingdom of God
The scripture depicts New Jerusalem as a garden city. A fountain will flow out of the throne of God (Revelation 22:1). And this fountain will water many gardens (Revelation 22:17). There shall be no night there for the Lord God giveth them light (Revelation 22:5).
Gardener – Jesus Christ
Garden is a prepared place from the common ground.
- A body thou hast prepared for me = Incarnation!
Now in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden (John 19:41). His body was kept in a nicely kept garden.
- Mary Magdalene called him gardener (John 20:15)
Jesus as God —————> Gardener
Jesus as man —————> Garden
A spring shut up – A fountain sealed (Song of Solomon 4:12)
Jesus was kept in a new tomb sealed with a stone (Matthew 27:66). It resembles a well (Genesis 29: 3-8) where the flocks gathered around: and they rolled the stone from the well’s mouth, and watered the sheep. When Jesus was in a sealed tomb, He was a fountain sealed (John 4:10). He will be a sealed fountain to you until the Holy Spirit opens him up to you (1 Corinthians 12:3). This fountain was opened to the Church on the day of Pentecost (John 7: 37-39).
On bended knee I come,
With a humble heart I come
Bowing down before thy Holy throne, lifting Holy hands to you –
As I pledge my love a new.
I worship you in spirit – I worship you in truth,
Make my life a Holy place unto you….
