This is such a wonderful reminder for today. Our earthly stay is transient, but it is certainly not without a purpose or repercussions. Every day counts in the heavenly court, every deed matter. God notices!
As we go about our busy life, balancing work, family and personal goals, let us hope that we remember this truth: that even the tiniest of our gestures matter. As Paul exhorts us in Colossians 3: 17 “And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through him to God the Father” (NLT).
Christian life is all about living for Christ. This calls us to be good stewards, of the time we are entrusted with, of the people we are surrounded by, of the resources He has blessed us with. Let us not be those who plan to pray a salvation prayer on deathbed and accidently miss the chance. Instead let us be those who wake up every morning and decide to make the day worthwhile for eternity. For a Christian, no day is merely ‘another day’. It is yet another chance to live for Jesus, to build each other up, to build the Kingdom of God.
We teach our Sunday School children to sing “O, be careful little eyes what you see… For the Father up above, is looking down in love” but lose this conviction as we grow up. Today, this will be our reminder. What do matter, what we think matter, what we say matter, how we deal with our kids matter, how we treat our spouse matter, how we spend time alone matter, how we work matter, everything matters. Today matters for eternity.
